hasta la vista IBM - for good!!!

Finally, after waiting for 40,176,000 seconds or 669,600 minutes or 11,160 hours the day arrived when i joyfully put in my papers at a firm which Quote I thought Unquote was distinguised by its prominence in every field of expertise. However, it turned bad to worse when I actually committed my self to join such a place way back in Feb 2007. Many of you might think, that such a disappointment would have arisen due to very high expectations at the time of joining the firm. Infact such a reason would be deleterious to ones thought process. Initially when things started to go awry, I was perturbed, thinking that it might have been a wrongdoing from my side, since I did have an iota of doubt about the company policies pertaining to various day to day activities. But, it struck me when I saw that happening over and over again to different people for the same issues across all levels of hierarchy. This was not because of something that people at various levels in the company missed, but to my understanding, it was/is because of the fundamental flaw in mostly all of their policies. Companies across the globe formulate policies based on umpteen factors, but they never lose sight of their EMPLOYEES, which, however is not the case with this esteemed organization and especially Global Business Services. In other words, to put it really bluntly, IBM IS NOT AN EMPLOYEE FRIENDLY ORGANIZATION...
The only reason I see that they are surviving in this market, especially NCR region, is because of the fact that no major, true consulting/services firm have actually started their business in NCR region. Non IT people still think of IBM as a name to be reckoned with in India, but I'm not sure about their fallacy. One can easily classify the kind of people who do stick around in IBM(GBS)...
1. People who are well aware of their market value and where they stand, hence HAVE no other option than to continue in such a place, or,
2. People who have decided to move to Delhi/Gurgaon and THINK that they have joined the best of the worst in NCR.
Its amazing to see that, on an average, there are atleast 3 resignations (99% voluntary) in a month in this firm in Oracle/PS capability alone. That itself speaks volumes about the leadership.

Congratulations on your new job. However, beware, of the "grass is greener" syndrome.

I have not worked for IBM but from my experience with them, they are dumb as a box of hammers. Visionless bean counters. IBM has no ability to actually deliver value to the customer. They focus on buying IP and milking it, or shelving it. Hardly any creative insight is evident once they acquire a company. Hopefully the world will open up and swallow the senior management team in there because they run the company from quarterly reports, not from successful experience, mainly because the management team are not "successful" individuals in bringing about change.

But remember all the large s/w vendors are not to be trusted. They all have their evil sociopaths working within them. It just depends if the sociopaths are at the senior levels of management.

Hi All, how you people got offer from IBM India. IBM INDIA recruitment is so worst. I have dcided from now I'll go for labour work but I dont go for IBM interview.

Technical panel dont know how to select people, without seeing CV them call discussion... 3 or 4 persons will come for discussion who are in shift might not having more than 2-3 yrs experience and take interview for 6 yrs experienced candidates.. After screwing mind for 1 hr 30 minutes with stupid and nasty questions they ur CV doesn't match our profile... This is not for 1 time... its more than 5 times in Bangalore & Hyderabad.

They dont maintain puctuality as per scheduled timeslots. If the time slot 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM HR wont be availabe till 11:30AM... =))

When we ask for IBM Hr why its too late for taking interview...! Ans is: If you dont have patience to wait how do you work at the time servers/service went down and having pressure on your head....! :))

IBM HR's are worst job in this earth.

my husband has been working for IBM for two years, and me working part time so i can also take care of our two children, and we still are forced to accept government aid because his pay is so ridiculously low. he makes 30,000.00 a year! anywhere else, for his line of work and knowledge, gets paid 70K for entery level and up to 150K for 10 or more years experience. My husband and everyone else in his department have been actively seeking employment elsewhere, however do to the economy, they so far have no other choice but to stay with ibm. This is just the beginning of my hate for ibm.

I am not surprised to see people across the globe share same view on IBM. Because that is the truth and reality. Even me got my life screwed up by IBM. Fortunately, I am in a employee friendly org now. I am happy to have left IBM and would never ever think to go back to that shitty company!!

IBM has this way of sucking all energy out of you. They do not get the meaning of 'customer satisfaction' or 'delivery'. The only thing they care about is politics and compete in how rude they can be to each other. In a world where multichannel projects and mobile apps are taking over, IBM is still in the stone age. There are some initiatives now (2014!) to go into Interactive areas, but instead of trying to actively do these projects and get people who have experience, they are doing all such projects with a bunch of grads who have no idea how the industry works. Most projects consist of delivering code with thousands of defects and then trying to find someone to blame. Weird place. Not sure how it has been around so long.
